Who Authored the Bible
#2 Timothy 3:16-17
16 All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for instruction, for conviction, for correction, and for training in righteousness,
17 so that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.
The Scriptures were breathed into existence by God.
Why Did God Author The Scriptures
- for our instruction
- conviction
- correction
- training in righteousness
Why?
- So we can be complete
- So we can be equipped for every good work
21 For no such prophecy was ever brought forth by the will of man, but men spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit.
Prophecy does not originate from man. Rather, men speak words of prophecy as God, by His Holy Spirit, brings it forth through them.
Why Study The Scriptures?
It Is Our Spiritual Sustenance
4 But Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.’”
It Keeps Us From Sinning Against God
11 I have hidden Your word in my heart that I might not sin against You.
It Is Of The Greatest Value
9 The fear of the Lord is pure, enduring forever; the judgments of the Lord are true, being altogether righteous.
10 They are more precious than gold, than much pure gold; they are sweeter than honey, than honey from the comb.
It Warns Us And Brings Great Rewards
11 By them indeed Your servant is warned; in keeping them is great reward.
It Brings Blessing and Prosperity
1 Blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked, or set foot on the path of sinners, or sit in the seat of mockers.
2 But his delight is in the Law of the Lord, and on His law he meditates day and night.
3 He is like a tree planted by streams of water, yielding its fruit in season, whose leaf does not wither, and who prospers in all he does.
Can We Trust the Bible?
:::{.callout-scripture} # Psalm 33:4
4 For the word of the Lord is upright, and all His work is trustworthy.
7 The works of His hands are truth and justice; all His precepts are trustworthy.
160 The entirety of Your word is truth, and all Your righteous judgments endure forever.
What Did Jesus Say About the Bible?
God’s Word Is Truth
17 Sanctify them by the truth; Your word is truth.
It Cannot Be Broken
35 If he called them gods to whom the word of God came – and the Scripture cannot be broken
It Always Accomplishes What He Sent It Out To Do
10 For just as the rain and snow fall from heaven and do not return without watering the earth, making it bud and sprout, and providing seed to sow and food to eat,
11 so My word that proceeds from My mouth will not return to Me empty, but it will accomplish what I please, and it will prosper where I send it.
Every Word Will Be Fulfilled
18 For I tell you truly, until heaven and earth pass away, not a single jot, not a stroke of a pen, will disappear from the Law until everything is accomplished.
It Testifies About Him
39 You pore over the Scriptures because you presume that by them you possess eternal life. These are the very words that testify about Me,
27 And beginning with Moses and all the Prophets, He explained to them what was written in all the Scriptures about Himself.
Is the Bible Still Relevant Today?
It Is Still Living, Active, and Judges Our Hearts
12 For the word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it pierces even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow. It judges the thoughts and intentions of the heart.
It Still Instructs, Convicts, Corrects, and Trains in Righteousness
16 All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for instruction, for conviction, for correction, and for training in righteousness,
17 so that the man of God may be complete, fully equipped for every good work.

It Guides Us In How To Walk In Purity
9 How can a young man keep his way pure? By guarding it according to Your word.
It Lights Our Path
105 Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.
It Guides Our Steps
59 I considered my ways and turned my steps to Your testimonies.
Through Its Light, It Reproves Us
23 For this commandment is a lamp, this teaching is a light, and the reproofs of discipline are the way to life,
