The Seven Provisions (7-Fold Sprinkling)
-
This 7-fold sprinkling is recorded in Leviticus 16. God had foreshown that there would be seven-fold sprinkling of the precious Blood of Jesus.
-
Garden of Gethsemene - sweated great drops of Blood
-
In the house of the high priest when they abused Him
- struck him across the face with rods
- begain to pull out the hair of His beard in tufts
-
His scourging by Pontius Pilate
-
Crown of Thorns
-
Nailed to the Cross
-
Spear Thrust
Leviticus 17:11 - the life or the soul of all flesh is in the Blood; I (God) have given it (the Blood) to you to make atonement for your souls.
Isaiah 53:12 - He poured out His soul unto death; how? in His Blood - the soul is in the Blood; His soul took the place of your soul and my soul.
The Kind of Christian That Scares Satan
-
Revelation 12:11 - They (the saints) overcame him (Satan) by the Blood of the Lamb AND by the word of their testimony. They loved not their lives unto the death.
-
Totally committed Christians are the only kind of Christian that scares Satan because, their first priority is not to preserve their own life, but rather doing the will of God whether they lived or died.
-
1 John 2:17 - the world passes away and the lust thereof, but he that doeth the will of God abideth forever.
-
We overcome Satan when we testify personally to what the word of God says the Blood of Jesus does for us.
-
PROCLAMATION -
- We overcome Satan when we testify personally to what the word of God says the Blood of Jesus does for us.
The NT Meaning of Passover
- first, an OT example from the Passover ceremonies (Exodus 12)
- God, through the sacrifice of a Passover lamb, provided total protection for all the people of Israel. BUT they had to do certain things with the lamb and with its blood to insure that protection.
- 1 Corinthians 5 - … Christ our passover was sacrificed for us
- Exodus 12:21-23
- SPRINKLE it to the lintel and two doorposts with hyssop - never on the threshold which meant one would walk over the Blood
- NONE shall go out of the door of the house until morning; anyone who went outside the door was no longer protected by the Blood
- 1 Peter 1:1-2 - … Elect (or chosen) according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, in sanctification of the Spirit, for obedience and sprinkling of the Blood of Jesus Christ.
- NOTICE - Obedience comes BEFORE the sprinkling; the Blood is not sprinkled on the disobedient
The Importance of our Testimony
- So, how do we get Jesus’ Blood applied to where we live?
- Revelation 12:11 - They overcame him by the blood of the Lamb AND by the word of their testimony
- We over Satan when we testify personally to what the Word of God says the Blood of Jesus does for us.
- What is it that gets the Blood from the “basin” to “where we live”?
- Our testimony
- Hebrews 3:11 - Therefore holy brethren, partakers of the heavenly calling, consider the apostle and high priest of our confession, Jesus Christ.
- Confession - “saying with our mouths the same thing as” God says in His word. We make the words of our mouth agree with the word of God.
- no confession - no high priest
- Jesus said, by your words you will be justified; and by your words you will be condemned.
- So, you settle your destiny by the words you speak
- James - the tongue is like the rudder on a ship. It’s a very small part of the ship, but it determines exactly where the ship will go.
- Thus, we determine the course of our lives by the way we use our tongues
- NEVER SAY ANYTHING ABOUT YOURSELF THAT YOU WOULDN’T WANT JESUS TO MAKE HAPPEN
The Blood of Jesus Cleanses Us and Gives Us Redemption
- Practical demonstration
- KNOW what the word of God says
- Consider now, a seven-fold application of the Blood of Jesus in our lives
- REDEMPTION (being bought back) - Ephesians 1:7
- 1 Peter 1:18-19 - Jesus, our Passover Lamb, was without blemish
- Psalm 107:2 - Let the redeemed of the Lord say so whom He has redeemed out of the hand of the enemy.
- no say so, no redemption
- PROCLAMATION / CONFESSION
- Through the Blood of Jesus I have been redeemed out of the hand of the devil .
- CLEANSING - 1 John 1:7 - But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the Blood of Jesus, His Son, cleanses us from ALL sin.
- The evidence you are walking in the light is that you have fellowship. If you get out of fellowship, you get out of the light. And if you get out of the light, the Blood doesn’t cleanse in the dark.
- PROCLAMATION / CONFESSION
- While I walk in the light, the Blood of Jesus cleanses me now and continually from all sin.
- REDEMPTION (being bought back) - Ephesians 1:7
The Blood of Jesus Justifies Us
- JUSTIFICATION - (to make righteous)
- Romans 5:9 - Much more then, having now been justified by His blood, the blood of Jesus, we shall be saved from wrath through Him. So we have been justified by His Blood.
- acquitted, not guilty, reckoned righteous, made righteous.
- just-as-if-i’d never sinned.
- Isaiah 61:10 - I will greatly rejoice in the Lord. My soul shall be joyful in my God for He has clothed me with the garments of salvation, He has covered me with the robe of righteousness
- PROCLAMATION / CONFESSION
- Through the Blood of Jesus I am justified, acquitted, not guilty, reckoned righteous, made righteous, just as if I’d never sinned.
- Romans 5:9 - Much more then, having now been justified by His blood, the blood of Jesus, we shall be saved from wrath through Him. So we have been justified by His Blood.
We Are Sanctified and We Have Been Made Alive
- SANCTIFICATION - (to make holy) Hebrews 13:12 - Therefore, Jesus also, that He might sanctify the people with His own Blood suffered outside the gate.
- two aspects
- set apart FROM sin and FROM everything that defiles
- set apart FOR God; made holy with His own holiness
- Hebrews 12:10 For they indeed for a few days chastened us as seemed best to them, but He for our profit that we may be partakers of HIS HOLINESS.
- PROCLAMATION / CONFESSION
- Through the blood of Jesus I am sanctified, separated from sin, set apart to God, made holy with God’s holiness.
- two aspects
- LIFE - Leviticus 17:11 - For the life of the flesh is in the Blood and I have given it to you upon the altar to make atonement for your souls.
- the life of God is in the Blood of Jesus; God’s own life, the life of the Creator
- John 6:53 - Then Jesus said to them most assuredly, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of man, and drink His Blood, you have no life in you. WHOEVER eats my flesh and drinks my blood HAS eternal life and I will raise him up at the last day. For my flesh is food indeed and my Blood is drink indeed. He who eats my flesh and drinks my Blood abides in me and I in him. As the living Father sent me, and I live because of the Father, so he who feeds on me will live because of me.
- Communion - “let us eat the flesh of Jesus and drink the Blood of Jesus”
- 1 Corinthians 10:16 - The cup of blessing which we bless, is it not the communion of the Blood of Christ?
- 1 Corinthians 11:23 - For I received from the Lord that which also I delivered to you, that the Lord Jesus on the same night in which He was betrayed took bread: and when He had given thanks He broke it and said: Take, eat, this is my body which is broken for you. Do this in remembrance of Me. In the same manner also He took the cup after supper, saying: THIS CUP IS THE NEW COVENANT in My Blood. This do as oft as you drink it in remembrance of Me. For as often as you eat this bread and drink this cup you proclaim the Lord’s death till He comes.
- PROCLAMATION / CONFESSION
- Lord Jesus, when we receive Your Blood, in it we receive Your life, the life of God, divine, eternal, endless life.
The Blood of Jesus is Pleasing For Us in Heaven
-
INTERCESSION - Hebrews 12:22-24 - But ye are come unto mount Sion, and unto the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to an innumerable company of angels, To the general assembly and church of the firstborn, which are written in heaven, and to God the Judge of all, and to the spirits of just men made perfect, And to Jesus the mediator of the new covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling, that speaketh better things than that of Abel.
- Three Contrasts
- Abel’s blood was shed against his will. Jesus willingly gave His Blood

- Abel’s blood called out for vengeance. Jesus’ Blood pleads for mercy.
- PROCLAMATION / CONFESSION

- Three Contrasts
-

- Hebrews 10:19 - Therefore, brethren, having boldness to enter the holiest by the Blood of Jesus by a new and living way which He consecrated for us through the Veil, that is His flesh, and having a high priest over the house of God, let us draw near with a true heart and full assurance of faith having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water. Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering.
- PROCLAMATION / CONFESSION
- Thank you, Lord, that through the sprinkled Blood of Jesus I have access into the presence of Almighty God, into the holiest place in the universe.
